Currently, there are 18 videos on my hledger fan YouTube channel, with the most popular video having some 3k views. How did this all start?
There were three principal reasons. First, I wanted to learn hledger better, and one effective way to learn something is to teach it. The videos concentrate on hledger basics, because that’s what I felt would benefit me the most. Master the fundamentals, and you are off to a good start.
Second, I had recently completed a course in creating educational videos. After completing the course, I realized that my new skills of creating videos were going to relatively quickly atrophy if they weren’t exercised. So, making the videos was a way for me to maintain this valuable skill of creating instructional videos.
Third, I wanted to help others learn about the basics of hledger. And that’s what the videos do. So, if you know someone who has recently started with hledger, feel free to point them towards the YouTube channel.
