We had been traveling, so I had several transactions with new payees. Most of them were self explanatory. For example, if you eat at “Lake Shnonka Fish Fry” and the charge on your credit card is “Lake Shnonka Fish Fry,” then that’s crystal clear.
However, if the above meal shows up on your credit card as “BZQ Enterprises,” it’s not at all certain what the charge was for. And a very similar thing happened to me on this trip when I was reconciling my transactions.
An internet search was sufficient to find the actual name of the restaurant. For future reference, I decided list the vendor in the form of [Credit card name of business] aka [the name of the restaurant as shown on its sign]. So, in the above fictitious example, I would enter the payee as “BZQ Enterprises aka Lake Shnonka Fish Fry.”
Now the payee name reflects both the credit card statement and name the business is commonly known by.
