Working backwards through the diagram below, the goal is to improve lives. However, it’s going to be hard to benefit people with your finances if you don’t have a surplus. And without managing your finances, it will be very difficult to obtain a surplus. Finally, having a tool such as hledger makes it possible to be more effective in managing your finances. In short, using hledger can be the first step toward a worthwhile end.
One of the goals of this blog is to help you learn hledger better. This may take the form of seeing what someone else is doing, learning about how to use a command, or seeing the “why” of using hledger, as in today’s Thoughtful Thursday posting.
